Instructor: Carol Franklin
Experience the joy of braiding on a marudai before investing in traditional equipment. You will learn how to prepare the marudai for braiding, kumihimo terminology and how to read braiding diagrams. Create samples of as many different 8-tama braids as time allows – square, round, flat, hollow, and other shapes – using Imposter, a silk substitute from Japan. All equipment and supplies will be provided.
Kit: $35.00, includes imposter thread and handouts for the braids attempted.
Equipment provided by the student: All equipment and supplies provided by the instructor.
Supply list: Complete list provided in September
Skill Level: No experience necessary. This class is designed to teach set-up methods, tama handling techniques, and the four classes of movement on the marudai.
