Essential Kumihimo

Learn all the tips, tricks, and techniques of kumihimo! You can make your own beautiful beaded necklace. Kumihimo is the Japanese art of braiding. Originally used to braid lacing for the Samurai’s armor, today it is a popular jewelry-making technique. Warning: Kumihimo is very addictive. It’s fast, easy, and fun! Students will learn how to do a round spiral braid using 8 cords with beads. Some students will finish the project in class and others will finish at home, but everyone will learn the essential finishing technique of binding off. The proper gluing technique will be demonstrated.
