The light-weight circular disk is used to make round braids, normally made on the marudai. A great introduction to braiding; disks travel well and are an economical tool for beginners to learn and experiment. Numbered slots hold threads firmly and make it easy for beginners to follow braid patterns to create unique jewelry pieces, friendship bracelets, key chains and more.

The original foam disk was developed and created by Makiko Tada in 2002. Since that time many versions and sizes have become available.  Sizes range from

Large disk – 6 inch diameter and are either 3/8” thick or when double density 3/4” thick.

Small disk – 4 ½ inch diameter and are either 3/8” thick or when double density 3/4” thick.

Disks are ideal for traveling with projects and introducing children to the exciting world of braiding.
