Submit Your Local Study or Meet-up Group to the AKS Website

To support kumihimo enthusiasts AKS advertises Local Groups however there is no affiliation with AKS and AKS membership is not required.

To be listed as a Local Group participant you should not require a kit fee, class fee or charge for other incidentals, refreshments or minor supplies. Members may decide to make group purchases for class items but not at the profit of an individual.

Kumihimo classes, both free and those that charge a fee, can be listed at no charge on the AKS calendar.

What is a Study Group?

A group of braiders who meet on a regular basis and focus on a specific book or choose some other way to focus the study of braiding with a goal of advancing the braiders’ knowledge and skills through group learning. Study Groups are different from a class as there is not a designated instructor and no tuition fee is collected.

What is a Meet-up Group?

A group that provides an opportunity for kumihimo enthusiasts to braid together and socialize. These are non-classroom get-togethers that do not focus on any particular book or technique. Members usually bring a project of their choice and their own supplies and equipment. No fee is charged
