Using the marudai, do we use 30% or 25% counterweight? The directions have one % on the supply list and another in the regular direction document. Or do we increase the weight only in the charm sections? Thanks in advance for the clarification.
It doesn’t matter, anywhere in that range is good. I generally suggest 25 to 30%. No need to decrease the weight when adding chain to the charm section, however, if you are adding charms that are very heavy you may need to reduce your counter weight to compensate. Watch your point of braiding, if you notice that the warps are getting lower as you braid then reduce the counter weight to return them to where they were when you started.

Hi Adrienne,
Would the core and dangles work with a metallic braid? Would the core and dangles hold? or would it be too loose and fray?
Thanks

Becharmed Beaded Braid Necklace – My adaptation of this great design is made with 2 ropes of Japanese Metallic- Ancient Gold and 1 rope of Japanese Metallic – Variegated Dark Rainbow. The braid is Tsuri-ito-kawari-Edo-yatsu, Comprehensive Treatise of Braids 1: maru-dai braids 1, M. Tada. The charms are various sizes of bugle bead triangles, constructed with Fireline (14lb smoke).
