Jane Peterson

Jane Peterson began beading in 1996 and discovered Kumihimo braiding in 2010 when she took a Marudai Basics class with Adrienne Gaskell. As a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner since 1988, she found she needed a creative outlet to balance her work life. The endless possibilities of braid structures along with bead stitches and techniques fascinates her. In 2015 Jane also co-founded the Greater Cleveland Kumihimo Study group who’s purpose is to study Kumihimo Braid structures and continuous beaded braids with other braiders who braid on a marudai. They are currently working through Makiko Tada’s book Comprehensive Treastise of Braids I: Marudai Braids. In 2014, she was honored to study Kumihimo with sensei Makiko Tada in Japan. Jane is a Founding Member and the Vice President of Programs with the American Kumihimo Society.
